Largest Ever Year 7 Group Settles In Well, But COVID Safety Measures Remain A Priority

Louth Academy is celebrating its largest every Year 7 cohort with 206 new students having joined the school last month.

Despite some COVID restrictions remaining in place to ensure student and staff safety, the new pupils have settled in well and are happy to be the newest members of the Secondary School.

Year 7 and 8 students have the Lower Site to themselves and are able to take advantage of its superb facilities, including a substantial Fitness and Dance Suite. Students in Years 9-11 study at the Academy’s Upper Site where they have their own corresponding facilities.

Outdoor sinks, hand sanitiser, social distancing in crowded areas and the choice to wear a mask are all still in place at the Academy this term in an effort to keep COVID infections as low as possible.

Principal Philip Dickinson said everyone at the Academy is working hard to keep COVID infections at bay and ensure a more settled return to school. “We are complying with every regulation in an effort to ensure that the Academy can operate as close to normal as possible,” he said.

“We are delighted to see such a large group of Year 7 students joining us this year and they have settled in so well. Students and staff are working together to ensure a smooth transition for them all and we would like to thank parents, carers and students for choosing us. We have such a large site here so we are happy to accommodate more students."

New student Taygan Webb (11) said: “I am finding it really good. I have made lots of friends, the food is fine and the classrooms are really nice. Year 7 alone is three times bigger than my primary school at North Cockerington, but the teachers have really helped us to find our way around.”

Isabella Ablewhite (11) added: “It is really nice and I am enjoying it here. I have made new friends and settled in.”
